The difference between fiction and reality?

A bit early, but hey, I started writing this like a year ago :D
One day a friend of mine and I stayed up pretty late and consumed quite a lot of sugar... and ended up searching for strange pairings. Like Ron/Snape. And the one we read was not too bad. So we decided that I should write one ^^ and here it is :D

CCHP SSHP slash. One-shot. Harry Potter and Colin Creevey are getting married. Severus Snape knows a reason why they shouldn’t.

The task was to write a metaphor poem about yourself as a writer.

I wrote the first version first (it's bloody long too), but then doubted it fit the criteria, so I revised it (read: started again from scratch), which would be version two.

Version One

A mother duck
leads her youngest child
towards the river

She has been raising it,
tending to it,
keeping it safe and secluded
from the outside world

Now it's time to let it go,
let it meet the world
and see whether it can make it
on its own

If it can't,
then time will have been wasted
on it's fruitless life

They approach the river
and the mother gets nervous

Her other ducklings did just fine,
will this one stand the tide?

The river is calm,
not a cloud in the sky,
no danger in sight

The mother hesitates,
then decides that
there's no point in wasting time

She pushes her child
towards the edge
checks it over one more time
and says a silent goodbye

As the duckling falls
into the still water
time seems to slow

The water ripples
disturbed by the new weight
the mother closes her eyes in fright

When she opens them again
she sees her duckling,
swimming happily,
in tune with the water

Relief floods her
and with one last glance
she returns to her nest
to prepare for the next.


Version Two

I am a writer who cares for her work
much like a mother duck for her child.

When the duckling is born
the mother raises it and tends to it
preparing it for life ahead.

Then  the day comes
where the mother has done all she can
and has to let her child
find its own way in the big world.

As she leads it to the water
she frantically checks it over
over and over again
until she realizes
that it's the best it can be.

So she gives it a nudge towards the water
where other creatures have gathered
to assert the ducklings ability.

The mother is worried,
of course,
and secretly wonders
whether her time has been wasted.

Time seems to slow
as the duckling hits the water
and unable to watch,
the mother closes her eyes in terror.

When she reopens them
relief fills her
at the sight of her young
swimming happily
the other creatures staring in wonder.

Then with a silent goodbye
and a last glance
she heads back to her nest
to care for her other children.

She sees them there, much as I do my work,
happy yet sad
that one of them is gone.

Task:
Using standard English, write a coherent, unified, multi-paragraph (3 or more paragraphs) composition of approximately 300 words on the topic below. In your composition, you may apply any appropriate method of development including exposition, persuasion, description, and narration.

Suggested Time:
35 minutes.

Topic:
Confidence comes from the support of others.

My answer (mistakes and all^^):

He stared at the stage, sweat trickling down his back. It would be his turn soon and he knew that if he messed this up he could forget about his dreams, his future. He could hear muffled voices from the other side of the black curtain and knew that it would be him they'd be disecting next.
The sound of footsteps reached his ears and already suspecting who'd be approaching him he turned around.
Black hair, blue eyes, the face of his best friend. He did his best to smile, but it didn't feel right. He was about to mess up his future, what reason would he have to smile?
"How're you holding up?"
A nervous chuckle escaped him. His friend obviously understood his response and placed a warm hand on his shoulder.
"You can do this, alright? You're one of the best and if they can't see that then they don't deserve you. Remember: there will be other opportunities."
"Next!"
His heart jumped a beat at the shout but immediately calmed down again. His friend was right, he could do this and he would.
So with a true smile, he stepped out in front of the curtain, determined to make his dream come true.

I know it's not Christmas. ^^

This story was writen whilst listening to "A Whole New World" from Aladdin.
I wrote it last night, in one sitting, after giving into the urge to do something good for our beloved Potions Master.

An attempt at slight humour. HPSS. One shot.

I wanted to write something different. This is PD/HP incest. It's different enough.

Tomorrow there might not BE anymore Harry Potter related communities left. And I don't know about you, but this upsets me greatly.
